I went on an art and textiles trip to Paris with my Sixth Form a couple of weeks ago, it was amazing, though so busy, it really is a beautiful city. Shall post more picture soon, this is a photo of me and friend oblivious to the camera sat on the fountain by the Louvre early morning.

just testing out my new camera, the first is the left over of acrylic inks that i used for my final piece which i haven't been bothered to clear away. the second is a collection of bottle tops as i thought i would perhaps make jewellery/necklace, though has yet happened. and the third is of a corner of an easil in my room that had a great splatter of colours.

this is a top i will never part with, i find it goes with absolutely everything, whether it actually does is a different matter. its super soft and has an oversize quality that if you really wanted could pass a dress, or just wear with leggings (though i'm not really a leggings wearer) its by illustrated people, which i bought at topshop a couple of years ago.

as i had started sixth form last september, it was a real step up from school, and i became lazy with blog and found i could only concentrate on work. as silly as it sounds it was also very strange not having to wear a uniform everyday and i found it important to dress myself in the morning, in a way that would express me, while keeping essential everyday wears. the doc martens were my "back to school" perchase. i had wanted a pair for so long, as they are classic boots and got me through the winter months!

the backpack was another thing i had be longer for, though everywhere i looked no-one sold them, unless i wanted to look like boy. i came upon this backpack on urbanoutfitters website on sale for half price, and likened it to a similarity to a chanel backpack, with the quilted fabric and gold details. though the straps weren't quite strong enough for my books, i had them re attatched with stronger leather for a small price and its now better than ever!

my friend had bought me this amythist necklace as a christmas present, and i attatched my opal elephant and a sterling silver twisted ring also onto the chain. the belt is actually my mom's belt from when she used to work at the bank as you can see from the logo.

i spent alot of the day reading 'one day' by david nicholls, which i am really enjoying, i have just got to the second section and there was this quote, which i really liked.

i have been looking for a coat for ages now, as i absolutely fell in love with the camel coats for fall, when i saw collections such as chloe last fashion week. Its not original camel hair, but i loved the camel colour and it fitted so well, bought from zara, which have so many great coats in now. and i love their new website!

Murano glass ring from Lucca. A couple of years ago we went to the Murano Island, and to just see some of the beautiful creations made from the glass is just lovely! Tan Leather Bag from Florence, from this little handbag shop, as soon as you walked into the room you could smell the beautiful leather. Finally Elle Italia, from Viareggio where we stayed.

On our third day there we caught the train and had a day trip in the lovely town of Lucca. Its a walled town which to get into you go through a tunnel and it has so much character it is lovely to walk around. My mum and I took loads of photos, as around every corner was something new to see. There were some lovely little shops too, one especially where i bought a ring and my bought a necklace. We didn't know very much about the town and just explored by ourselves which was really good, I'd love to go again though and look around more as there were soo many winding streets. Also there was tower which would have been good to go up to see the view, it was so hot though we had to keep stopping in shade! Didn't get very dressed up, because of the weather, so just wore urban outfitters skirt, zara tee and accessorize sunglasses.

So i am back from Tuscany! ahh i wish i was back there, i think holiday blues have begin to sung in. Had no Internet of laptop there so couldn't post any pictures, but i can now and i have so many different posts of things to share with you. It was such an inspiring trip. Our hotel was beautiful, and the sea and pool were obviously but we also had some trips into Lucca, Florence and Cinque Terre, so, soo many photos to share. But I'll just start with some random snapshots of throughout the week.

This is my mom back in the day, in Portugal. And as i am heading to Tuscany soon i thought it was appropriate to show some pictures. I love my mom style in these two pics the first especially because she looks so cool, as i love the trapeze top and sunglasses but also the fact she is wearing a cowboy hat. The second photo you may recognise the pair of shorts from the blog which i have worn numerous times. So as fashion comes in circles i may be dressing like this while I'm away!

I decided to buy this white t-shirt today, as i realised what such a staple item it is. I also tend to gravitate towards the more unique or strange top but I'm starting to understand the power of a staple item. The tee is from Urban Outfitters and i just love the slightly cropped shape of it and the turned up sleeves. I was going to accessorize it with necklaces but i really liked the minimal look of it with the chinos. I also bought the sunglasses today to ready for my holiday soon, which i am so excited for. It made it even better when i got to the till in Accessorize and found they were in the sale with 70% off!

These are some of the second set of photos i took of my friend. I loved the colour of the skirt, and the girlishness of it and decided to pair it with the tribal print top for a complete contrast, yet i think the colours work really well together. Again we have rings, but also wooden bracelets to go with the top. I loved the look with converse to really quirk the look up. I really love the soft lighting in the first photo and so i made the rest have an earthy tone to the photo. I'm starting to find i like it better behind the camera!

These are the first set of photos i took took of my friend. I loved the dress with the wet look leggings and my friends hair went so well with the look too. I took so many photos but i decided these three were the best, the lighting was so good and i decided to do a near black and white image. It was kind of an effortless look, but with attitude, my friend pulled it off perfectly. What do you think guys?

Here is what i wore yesterday when i spent the day with my friend. Sorry for slow updates, my non-existent summer weather teamed with the endless days of freedom is making my life pretty busy.

Oh also I dyed a strip of my hair purple, random I know. But I was re-watching aquamarine and I strangely got inspired to have blue streaks in my hair. Though purple is nice and subtle in my brown hair.

I showed my friend my blog and we decided to do a mini shoot. I decided to style it as grungy/gothy/frolic in the fields! So thats what you will be seeing in the next couple of days.

So guys, i had the infamous prom last night. And it actually was such an amazing night and I'm actually really sad its over as we have been planning it for so long. Although i am pretty tired considering i didn't go to sleep all night due to after parties. I decided not to dress 'promish' as personally i don't really like the look and it wouldn't of suited me, so i decided to go for a more me approach. I found this dress a couple of months back, as a special edition Topshop maxi dress, i feel in love with the pattern and the black lace at the top. And yes i may have been the only girl in a printed dress but i loved it. I accessorized with my rings, dangly earrings and messy clipped up hair.

Zara is one of the best places around for individual T-shirts that aren't very expensive. They have had ones in this type of design for a while now, and I decided that I lack in T-shirts and therefore brought it to a new home. I loved the print on this design.

Wow all my exams are over. It feels so good. Though I feel awful for neglecting the blog, and I have been so inspired lately its untrue. I feel so behind with everything in the blog-o-sphere, though I am going to be a dedicated blogger again, and enjoy my free time for a couple of months. So anyway instead of blogging (as I was trying to ignore the computer/laptop as much as possible for revision) in breaks from revision I have been creating different mood boards of fashion inspiration. Mainly from going through old Teen Vogue's and being inspired one certain spread (the one below and others throughout, 'Dream Weavers') And now that I have so much time off I'm going to really be more creative and rework old clothes that I never wear.

I bought this leaf ring at the weekend, as i was looking at different leaf rings on Topshop and found this in Dorothy Perkins to be cheaper. I feel as it being silver it can easily go with different rings, not that i tend to match colours anyways. My ring collection is growing!

I love buying different fashion/art magazines that are unique. I came across this magazine called Under Current, it caught my eye not through harsh colours but by how, in a way, mysterious it was by the front cover. It definitely didn't disappoint in the photography shoots, as i fell in love with the colours that were used, photographed in lightly haziness with a sense of fairytale while at the same time very futuristic. These images also referred to the artist interview with Dee Ferris who's art pieces remind me of night-time lights however also astronomy nebula. Tell me what you guys interpret these images of.

London happenings.

Yesterday I went to London with my mom for a day trip. I love going to London I always feel a certain buzz when I'm there and I had a wonderful day yesterday. We went for out usual drinks and food at the Tate Modern Cafe, sadly it was a pretty miserable day weather wise but i suddenly got excited when I found out we were allowed to take photos in the art rooms. Which is unusual as normally in England you aren't allowed to take photos, so I took millions! I normally go to London every couple months, however this time we didn't go to see a specific exhibition. But it was great to just wonder around the different gallery rooms some of the photography was amazing and there was some real great pieces by Jackson Pollock, Claude Monet, Robert Rauschenburg and Andy Warhol and Gerhard Richter (which i shall do a separate post about). We also then went to the Victoria and Albert museum to see the Fashion section. There were some great pieces like some YSL, Ossie Clark, Rei Kawakubo, Chanel, Madeleine Vionnet and there was also an Alexander McQueen piece from his spring/summer 2010 collection. It was so strange to see a piece like that, the graphic print intwined into the dress and also this truely fashion forward/futuristic piece surrounding with all the remembrance of past dress times. The sheer skill was shown by how the pattern was used and by knowing how it was to be assembled in just the right places was just amazing to see.

This is an outfit I wore for my leavers day where it was an occasion to dress up. These are my favourite trousers in the world, tapered and structured in a strange but great way. Also yes again the lovely clogs, some of the lads thought they were pretty strange but others thought they were 'cool' maybe they were just being nice! I still love them though they bring quirkiness to any outfit!

Whoa its been crazy hot today! I don't think I can deal with it! Oh dear I should be happy its so warm. I was listening on the radio in England today it was said it was hotter than Barcelona, Rome, Athens and San Fransisco! I had a day in the sun at a beautiful park, revising, oh what fun.

I'm wearing a dress I've worn quite a few times on this blog, but I love it, i feel like a pixie or a hippy either one I don't mind. I'm also wearing a brooch from Snapdragon's Blog which my mum won from a givaway on facebook. My mum also has a blog VenetianBlue. I pinned the brooch onto a headband to wear.

Whoa I have been gone for almost a week. Exams are taking over and strangely in England it is super hot and sunny. The kind of weather that makes you want to sleep, eat ice lolly's all day and then just jump into cool swimming pool. I've hardly been on the internet all week actually so I haven't been checking my favourite blogs or getting back to you for your lovely comments, but I will be now! However I did manage to quickly see the new meadham Kirchhoff and Kate Moss collections any thoughts on them guys? I loved Meadham and Kirchhoff but you new I would from one of my previous posts. I also kinda felt Kate Moss has been more promoted than the designer but that's expected I suppose it angers me little though! But if I'm totally honest I did like the collection all the pastel colours that are so popular now have been used and there are some really great fabrics and embellishments. I have been feeling slightly uninspired this week and I'v been saving my money so I havent really bought any new clothes in a while. No clothes are really jumping out to me when i've been shopping but i do keep looking at accessorises. There are three main accessorises which i have been liking.

Went shopping today with three of my friends. It was such a lovely day, as it suppose to rain during the day however it was beautifully sunny and warm all day. I also bought a ring to start my collection as i really want to clump loads on. I love the light turquoise colour with the slight pink in it, and the gold doesn't look tacky from Accessorize. Oh and I bought some little turquoise earrings too. I wore a similar outfit to my previous post, but changing the dress. I wasn't sure whether I would need a jacket so lucky I packed a lightweight cardigan in my bag, I like to thing I'm prepared. How was everyone elses' Sundays, get up to anything arty/fashionable/musical or just had a lovely day in the sun?

While I was reading the latest issue of Vogue (British) yesterday (which was a really good issue, especially the article about a great photographer) I noticed this little snippet. I think the beautiful rough nude dress caught my on the page, as for ever i have been trying to scour the shops for a perfect nude dress, however no such look for me. Anyway, the dress is by Meadham and Kirchhoff and then I read FOR Topshop. This got me very excited as I loved there spring/summer collection (see below). I think I mainly liked it, for the signature base colour scheme, whites/nudes and blacks/greys however the beautiful texture and drapes and crinkles just blew me away. Also the unique structure on the trousers and dresses all topped off with black socks and patent brogues, as well as the longer hem line like Marc Jacobs also did. Although it says in the article they used their assistant for inspiration along with keeping their usual look. I tried to research about the latest collection, however there doesn't seem much about it, just stuff on their previous collection for Topshop and no dates in the article. Ah well I'll just keep my eye out. Although the price tags are pretty hefty!!

Oh also I forgot to say about the film Date Night! It really is a hilarious film. I think it was good because we didn't know what we were expecting as we hadn't seen any trailers. I actually not a bad story line either. There was one scene in particular which was super funny however it also helps when there's one man in the cinema with a hilarious laugh!

Super quick post, just in got in from dance and i'm stooped (stooped? what kinda word is that!) but i have finally had time to at least do a post as all week i have been stressing over learning french which was finally over today, YES. Um yeah simple outfit, but i kinda like the top button done up on the denim jacket, and technically the dress is chambray but still thats like a form of denim. So what do you think the denim on denim look yay or nay? or maybe only alexa can carry it off?

I'm just about to go to the cinema with my friend to see Date Night, I don't really know much about it but iv heard its suppose to be very funny and that Tina Fey is in it, so hopefully lots of laughs tonight!

I'm wearing a heart crop top that I found this weekend in my moms wardrobe, its vintage Benetton made in Italy. I fell in love with it, as I have not yet purchased a crop top even though they are every where and hearts seem to popping up too so its a great combo! Also wearing my autograph cardigan which I cant seem to take off at the moment, urban outfitters skirt and topshop heels.

I've been waiting a while to see the tree standing outside my house to bloom into blossoms, to me this is when it truly feels like spring/summer. I just had to take some photos, and while i was taking them they reminded me of a shoot in the latest Lula edition. In which a girl wears a blossom shaped hairpiece. I was slightly sceptical at first to pair them with black tights as they are brown, however I actually think the clogs work really well the casual look. Wont be posting for a few days going to see family, have a lovely end of the week!

On Friday I went to one of the regular band nights i go to, it was lots of fun, more so than usual as there were alot more people and more bands, with some pretty funny songs. So I went shoe shopping today, for some occasions that are coming up. I also went on Saturday just looking for the type of shoes i had in my mind, but today i took them home. They are a pair of clogs! I fell in love with the heel as I really like chunky heels, a bit like the Miu Miu heels, and then i realised that they are weirdly like the Chanel clogs for spring summer 10 but more a smaller heel. They are weirdly comfortable, though i will have to get used to wearing them. They second pair are a black suede peep toe with strap detail. I wanted a pair of elegant but with a slightly quirky element for this certain occasion and these are perfect! I also really like the zip detail on the back, as their practical - easier to put on, and look cool!

Also what I wore is above, Urban Outfitters shirt, Blank trousers, Accessorize shoes, Primark bag, vintage brooch, H&M cardigan, Accessorize flower clip, hippy headband.

This my inspiration book that i try to regularly update. I was in a bright and flowery mood when I did these pages. On the second image is my favourite painting of all time by John Singer Sargent. I also love the green/turquoise colour of the skirt on the opposite page. As for the last image, the article is taken from a copy of Selvedge magazine about anokhi fabrics in Jaipur India.

One of my favourite designers is Angela Missoni, and she didn't disappoint for fall 2010. Her designs, to me are what a collection should be, they run through completing each other with the whole of the designs looking slightly different each time. I also love all the different layers and elements that create the outfit, it gets built up until it looks complete and engaging. Missoni is one of the collections, that i love every piece (like Rodarte, Chanel). She uses knitwear throughout, and she never has an off season.

My absolute favourite collection is her fall 2009. Just the signature image of layers of scarfs, round the head in a certain way sets off the look immediately, creating this wrapped up feeling in crisp snow. The colour palette brings a fresh outlook onto a fall collection, and the use of fabrics, floral, knit, tweed, fur etc expands the overall look to greater more unique scale. It was so hard to pick my favourites to show, i wanted to upload all of them!

However her spring/summer 2010 was just as amazing, i mean who else can create a summer collection out of knitwear and make it look exotically cool, with holey knit dresses and hareem trousers. It transports you to a Sahara desert, through the bead wear, light layers, again keeper to her signature layers and elements, and even right down to the shoes, to create almost a story of this girl on her travels.

Her latest fall collection, was just as crazy with bold tribal prints, beautiful entwined into the wool. However its more darker, with quite structured pieces in way, an opposite look to the fall 2009. These seem more uniquely shaped with knit halternecks, open ponchos fastened at a different height. Patchworks seem occurant, almost as if this was a tribe charging out, however there is slightly a futuristic sense to this collection, maybe because of the striped, zig zags and high necked collars. Which collection do you prefer?

I could not believe my luck this morning, when i saw the latest Lula edition, in WHSmiths. I mean of course I wanted the copy, but where I live its harder to get the more different and unique magazines as I normally have to travel to a big Borders in Birmingham, however as that shut down last year I thought there was no way I'd be able to get a copy now. And so as I headed over to the ladies fashion section I started hyperventilating when i quickly snatched the last copy. I personally think it was waiting for me, but whatever! It shall now proudly sit on my shelf. Its a beautiful copy, no surprises there, celebrating five years of the magazine. I have been preparing to do a presentation of an icon, and i decided to do Grace Coddington, and seeing as she is such an inspiration i thought i would post what i spoke about:

I first heard of Grace Coddington when I read an article about her in an edition of Lula. I didn’t quite understand who she was at the time, and it was later on that I was truly inspired by her and her work. Ever since I first started seeing her styled shoots, and through watching the documentary ‘The September Issue’. Now I can instantly tell when a shoot has been styled by Grace now, whether it’s been published in American Vogue or just found on the internet.

She lived in a small town in North Wales, and at a young age she was interesting in fashion, however she was very far away from the fashion world literally and metaphorically as she use to rush to be able to get a copy of vogue that was at least three months out of date. However this made her love fashion even more as she has said that she loves:

‘the whole sort of chic thing about Vogue that was so entirely out of context compared to the lifestyle that I led’.

I think this has made her even better as a stylist because of how she loved fashion but it seemed to be a completely different world to the one she was living as she creates fashion to be a world of play and make believe.

At the age of 18 she sent of a photo of her into the Vogue Young Model Competition, which she ended up winning therefore starting her career in modelling. Even though before hand she tried doing a modelling course in London and got told she was ‘hopeless and too fat’ by the head of Ford Models. However at the ages of 26 she was in car crash, in which she lost her eyelid and had to have plastic surgery. Nevertheless that didn’t stop her she still got modelling jobs after, but it was two years after the car crash she was offered the role of Junior Editor at British Vogue, which she worked her way up. Until the age of 47 where she went to work at American Vogue the same that Anna Wintour started.

The reason why I love Grace is how she is still traditional and tweaks everything when styling a shoot; she works at it, until it’s perfect. She’s traditional in the way that she’s one of the only stylists to actually dress the models, its now the modern thing for fashion editors to not touch a model, assistants are suppose to do that. She also traditional in the fact she’s not caught up in the whole celebrity culture, with the glitzy front row thing, she doesn’t like trends. She puts passion into every shoot and truly believes in it and will stand up for getting her ideas across, insisting to make it work, including pieces that editors would say no to, because every detail matters to her.

She seems to look at fashion in an artistic and historical view. Her shoots are whimsical and seem to keep fashion in a world of dreams, however her ideas are fresh. She can quickly pull things together, as in one instant five days before closing the issue a new shoot was wanted, and she suddenly came with a new idea to have the camera men in the shot. It created such a new and innovative way to look at how shoots are created. In my opinion her photo shoots read almost as a story or a picture book.

When I watched the September Issue one of the main things that stuck to me was when she spoke of a photographer ‘Norman Parkinson’, with who she worked with, was taught by and got her through her first shoots which were considered ‘an unqualified disaster’. He taught her to:

‘always keep your eyes open, never go to sleep in the car, keep watching because what ever you see out the window, or wherever you are, it can inspired you’.

And this just seems to describe Grace in what she does best, she’s a visionary, who seems to get inspired by a lot of things, too many things sometimes as Anna Wintour would say but overall understands the direction fashion goes in.

"I like fairy tales, and I like dreaming. I try to weave the reality into the dream," she says. "When readers pick up Vogue, I want them to smile. Everything should be a little tongue in cheek, a little dare-to-go-there."

Here were some of the goodies that a bought last Saturday while i was in London, they are all art related, from the Van Gogh Exhibition. It was so interesting to see his sketches, along with the oil paintings. Also because the sketches came after the oil paintings which is strange as he did no planning out they were just showing his brother the idea of his main paintings. It was such an amazing exhibition, it was shame there were so many people there.

I used to buy Elle all the time, however within the past year I've been gradually going against buying it and into more of the artistic type magazines such as Lula, Pop, 10, Another and British Vogue for their beautiful shoots. Although as soon as I saw Chloe Sevigny wearing the amazing Mui Mui spring summer collection on the cover I HAD to buy it. It even had the dog print on the title. The interview was OK, in terms of it didn't really tell you anything you didn't already know but it was still quite enjoyable to read and I liked the scribbled on photos. As for the rest of the magazine it was also quite good with the odd interesting articles and a good summary of the Elle style awards. So all in all a good issue to buy.

oh and by the way Alice in Wonderland was AMAZING, GO AND SEE IT. It was totally unlike any other film. And i loved the new story line. And the outfits were amazing! Especially on Alice, loved all the blue dresses and even the red dress made out of curtains was just too cool. I found out the costume designer is Colleen Atwood so will have to research on her. Anyway seriously i recommend GO SEE IT.

i am going to see the eagerly anticipated Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland tonight. My expectations are high, and i don't know whether that's a good thing as i don't want to be let down. I have heard some negative comments about how its not the same story. However i feel this will give a new perspective on the film and will make it more fresh. As normally remakes of are never as good as the originals. The film directed by Tim Burton starting his wife Helena Bonham Carter, the legend Johnny Depp, the beautiful Anne Hathaway, Stephen Fry and many more well established and upcoming actors is set to be pretty amazing, although I doubt it will be as good as avatar which was just pure immenseness. Anyway i thought these Annie Leibovitz shoots were appropriate.

I had a lovely time in London yesterday with my mom, I always love going to London, it just really makes me happy with the whole atmosphere, it also made it so much better it being such a lovely clear, sunny day. I didn't buy any clothes, however i did go in the new anthropologie shop that has recently opened on regent street in London. it was so beautiful, the way everything was set out with added details, one wall was covered in greenery ferns and downstairs there was an old rustic boat with all bed sheets in. The main event of the day was seeing the Vincent Van Gogh exhibition. It was utterly amazing! It seemed alot different from other exhibitions i have been to. I shall do a separate post soon on the exhibition. For now i shall leave you with some of my snapshots of the day with some photos edited via rollip dot com.

Today has been such a beautiful day, and made me in high spirits, maybe spring is coming early, as it was really warm too! So today I decided to photograph my textiles project that I was doing all that sewing for a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed making the two garments, see what you think.

I was suppose to being to a band night tonight however as i have been so busy with my art i decided to pass, also as i am going to London on Saturday to see the Vincent Van Gogh exhibition, i need my rest. i also received a pair of tapered trousers in the mail today which i ordered at the beginning of the week, and shall most probably wear them to London, shall post photos!

Sorry i didnt post yesterday, it was my dad's birthday and so we went out for nice meal, also during the day i did a photoshoot where a modelled my friends clothes entitled 'Superhero Pop' i will also be taking part in the fashion show next week where i so i shall have to post pictures. Yesterday i went shopping, however i was pretty disappointed with some shops, didn't find anything really, however i do suggest looking in Zara, as they have some amazing shoes in! I also went prom dress shopping with friend and then when we got back we pigged out and watch pretty woman, what a great film. Here is what i wore:

Sorry i haven't been posting as frequently lately, I've not been feeling very inspired lately, I think its due to all this terrible weather. Also I've been very busy and its kinda running me down. However I am feeling slightly better after tonight, having gone to a private exhibition. I really enjoyed it and loved the art. It was an abstract piece based on memories and landscapes but you could interpret it as something new each time you looked at it. Here is what i wore, its kinda simple:

Also I've just been checking style.com for London fashion week, and my main favourites were Burberry Prorsum and Vivienne Westwood and Topshop Unique for pure awesomeness. Well okay they had more than that, for Burberry Prorsum the fur coats (beautiful) and boots and even snakeskin leggings, i know sounds gross but all together the whole collection looked totally amazing, in my opinion Burberry Prorsum was one of the best shows of London. Topshop Unique, was just crazy, it had an animal fur theme, with leaves scattered along the catwalk, big eyebrows, messy hair, fur animal hats, knitted leggings, you kind of have to see them to understand what i mean! And Vivienne well she just is London fashion. Also i loved Erdem and Marios Schwab for their dresses, especially loved the collars that were added to dresses for a more quirky look, also the bold prints used in Erdem made a more hard look for them but i think it worked well. However I'm not gonna lie i was pretty disappointed with Charles Anastase this year it just didn't seem like a collection, and i just didn't make sense. So today i wanted to do a post on the Elle Style awards as I was looking as what specific people were wearing last night because i was bored and my day was very unfashionable (I'm also really behind on looking up on London Fashion Week too). However i didn't know whether to or not as i am not into the whole celebrity culture thing, i mean Cheryl Cole's separation from Ashley was on the main bbc news yesterday, i mean what is going on with the world. Anyway back to fashion, what i mean is some celebrities are hailed as 'style icons' just for wearing a label. For example Kristen Steward she can obviously afford a haute couture piece and flashy shoes and somehow that makes her fashion icon. I applaud the people that don't just wear a dress for the label, as they wear it in their certain way and style it. For example you would know what i mean if i stated names such as Alexa Chung, the Olsens and Daisy Lowe. They truly love fashion and it shows, in how they wear all their elements that create an outfit. In a way this can relate to street style fashion and blogs, as what i love about it is that its raw and unique and they all create an outfit with elements of their personality within it. But anyway enough of the random ramble and trying to establish why I'm writing this for fashion purposes i shall show my favourites of the event.

Natalia Vodianova is one of favourite models ever since i saw the Alice in Wonderland spread by Annie Leibovitz. The reason why i mention her is that i recently watched an interview of her on 'Friday Night with Jonathon Ross'. She spoke about her life in Russia before she came a model (she used to sell fruit with her mother illegally) how she became a model (her previous boyfriend, payed for her to start into the business). She also spoke of her family and her founded charity 'The Naked Heart Foundation' where she has had playgrounds built in Russia for children. Not only is she beautiful, she seems lovely and also has a glamorously unique style.

Me and one of my best friends went into town today, and she showed me this little vintage shop that her mum had found. It was full of unique treasures from elegant evening dresses and prom dresses to reworked shorts and leather gilets. I liked how it was arranged with books and posters on the walls, with shoes too. It was great to explore and my friend even tried on the red 1960s prom dress, it looked fab!

How I love Marc Jacobs and Rodarte fall 2010 collections, also I love how Marc Jacobs banned celebrities from attending his show as he thinks the celebrity culture is boring, it made my day and also made me laugh. The Brit awards were last night and i absolutely fell in love with Lady Gaga's lace mask inspired by Marie Antoinette, mainly because I'm digging lace at the moment even it is an recurring 'trend' (did i just say digging?!), she made me smile how she made a tribute her to Alexander Mcqueen. I seem to have had so much spare time lately and I'm just researching lots, and not into the actual things i need to, like my new art project and academic things but ahh wells. Anyways, i managed to do two outfits today, i wanted to do three but my camera's battery decided to die on me. Also it was raining outside, and then for some unknown freakish reason it started snowing. So my photos are in my room and they aren't that great, but they do the job, i really want to start doing some proper photography shoots soon, but hard to fine great places to do them. I'm also not quite sure why I'm not smiling, i seem quite miserable, so i am sorry, I'm just really tired I NEED SLEEP.

Now to fashion week, only a quick thought as so many fashion blogs cover them in entirety, here are the main two that caught my eye which were Marc Jacobs and Rodarte.

Marc Jacobs, ankle dresses, socks, sling back shoes, fur coats, in nude/pastel shades. All romantic with a nostalgic almost country feel.

I loved the dreamlike quality of the Rodarte designs, with the quirky patch worked beautiful endless layers of florals mixed with delicate lace leggings. The main thing that struck me was the lightless and how it ended with the almost ghostly but amazingly inspiring delicate white dresses, but for some reason they also give off a quite rough edge, i think mainly from the way the fabrics are draped and the texture. I'm also loving the polka dots on the skirt.

Firstly sorry that this post isn't a post full of outfits of the shoes, will do tomorrow, I've just kinda been lazing about. Today however, me and one of best friends went to Manchester shopping today. Although as I seem to have spent all my money on Saturday I didn't really buy anything, apart from the book 'Catcher in the Rye' by J.D Salinger which i am ashamed to say i haven't read yet and therefore as a tribute to him i decided to finally get the book. I look forward to reading it.

Pretty weird expression huh, anyway i am also very excited about Alexa Chung for Madewell as she debuted the collection yesterday, which of course true to Alexa is absolutely school girlish/boyish/grannyishly beautiful, I'm completely in love and I'm not gonna lie I'm slightly jealous of her, she is just too cool.

So I woke up this morning to see this little delight on my beside table. My mom is so cute.

Yeah kinda weird photo, i took it yesterday while i was out shopping, as i suddenly saw this heart balloon in the sky and managed to capture it with these beautiful tree/twigs in the sky. I edited it to get this colour.

I haven't really done much today, i did however tidied my room which was becoming a bottomless pit. I also finished reading the book i bought yesterday, it was really interesting to see how all of these designers started off, what inspired them, how they saw/see there collections etc, i mean some stuff i already knew about my particular favourites, but whether you like the clothes or not you have to appreciate each designer for their eclectic creativity and striving to achieving perfection in something that they absolutely adore. Whoa abit in depth there. Anyway reading this book reminded me of all my magazines, that i have bought within the last few months, that i so desperately need to finish reading. And how fashion week in new york is in tow and i haven't yet been on style.com and haven't even seen the photos of poor Agyness Deyn tripping over twice on the runway, i bet they were some stupidly high shoes. Resolutions get my act together, read more.

Anyway sorry to bore you, also today i was trying out my new sandals, well OK only one outfit, and coincidentally i was wearing them with rolled up jeans which was what Chelsea from http://dearilou.blogspot.com/ suggested, thank you for all the others suggestions too, i shall try them with different coloured tights, shorts and skirts during the week.

I think today was the first time I've been shopping in a couple of months. Its quite bad i know. But i just get so busy with other things and then i just forget about shopping and look online, which is bad as you can never tell what something really looks, feels, hangs but I suppose you can send them back. Anyways so today I actually bought two things, I wasn't going with the intention of buying anything, though i did have a wish list.
I bought a pair of gladiator kinda sandal things from Topshop. They are quite strange, but i really like them, statement shoes i think, though i am not sure whether to keep them as I don't know what to wear them with, i will have to play around with them. I did think a nude/pink/pastel dress as abit of a contrast, but what do you think of them, any suggestions of how to wear them?

p.s don't you think the topshop bag is uber cool? i love the turquoise colour.

i also bought the book 'British Fashion Designers' iv been wanting it for quite a while, iv just started reading it and so far its really interesting. It has loads of eccentric British designers, which all seem very artistic in their fashion creation, which i suppose is what British fashion is determined to be. I think it will be a very inspiring read.

Here is my art work that i have been working on. Its on a topic called self image, and i was inspired by mainly vintage collages of memories, however i wanted to show skill so i decided to do an observational draw of myself, to show my interest in fashion and illustration. While i was tiding my room and looking through old magazines and articles i came across this booklet insert from the Daily Telegraph in 2008. It has some great arcticles featuring the 60s right up to the 00s. My personal favourites were the 60s and 70s, talking about the Mods, Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell, Mary Quant and Twiggy, and the 70s was of course where Vivienne Westwood came into view. However i found it really interesting to read up on the other decades too. Here some photos of the booklet. I'm pretty tired today as last night i went out for a band night. The usual head bobbing and jumping went on, to classic Nirvana and then Arctic Monkeys, Kasbian and then some of the band's songs. Here is a promised outfit post, i meant to do some more but i just kept getting distracted. Here is what i wore last night. I'm wearing a baggy Topshop bow top and Topshop flowy dress, which i have attached a high waist skinny belt in the top to shorten it and make it compliment the dress more. I am also wearing a Marks and Spencer's blazer, with the sleeves rolled up, vintage navy leather and velvet heels and an urban outfitters pendant.

Yes that's right, Alexa Chung is the cover star of British Vogue in march. it makes me happy as one of my favourite magazine issues of Elle (London Special) had Alexa Chung on the cover. Can't wait to see what the spread of outfits will be like, however if I'm perfectly honest I'm not really liking what she'd wearing on the front cover. It's kinda too simple i think, or hmm, well I'm not really sure whats wrong, there is just something not quite right. Though i do think those clogs are pretty rad. I shall be racing into the shops tomorrow to get my issue, hope you will too!

I just found these pictures on Internet of Daisy Lowe's 21st Birthday Party and i had to share as i instantly fell in love! Sorry for kinda random change of subject but ah well. Also i don't think i will be posting tomorrow as i have a hectic day and in the evening is my best friends party, but i promise some good outfit posts!

I think you can gather it was a fancy dress party, but just look at how beautiful those outfits are and the intricate detailing gone into them.

pinch punch first day of the month.

Yesterday was a pretty hectic day. It consisted of walking back from my friends house, wearing my pyjamas while it was snowing, sewing all day until the sewing machine broke and then going to a dance performance thingy, after which i was soo tired from dancing and the party the night before, i just went straight to bed. Therefore i didnt really have time to post. I do love snow, as its exciting, fun to roll in and play in, but now its just annoying because its like we've already had it and it makes your feet wet and cold but i supose im just complaining its better than rain! Ah wells it was fun to take pictures in, even if they did kinda fail as the snow was melting really quickly, but i shall show them anyway.

I'm wearing sugar ankle boots, wooly tights H&M, smock dress from some little no name shop, topshop crop jumper, urbanoutfitters plait shirt, autograph shawl cardigan thing and a lace headband.

So iv just been watching re runs of charmed (my inner nerd decided to challenge herself to watch every single episode and I'm up to season 5 :/) and I've been racking my brain to decide what to wear for a party tomorrow night. No such luck. Even though i always get told i have million amounts of clothes in my wardrobe and i have no excuse to say 'i don't have anything to wear'. Its probably best that i don't plan it and wear something thrown together and random, always seems to work best.

As for the rest of my day its been mainly arts based. However i also decided that today was my 'find lost things day' as i thought i had lost my favourite necklace a couple of days ago, only to find it in my bag wedged in a corner. Also i found the main thing that i have been looking for, for like 3 weeks I'm not even joking. My textiles folder WAS FOUND. So all of my worries, well about textiles anyways can be cleared and i can do alot of sewing this weekend. Anyway i found this great illustrator while i was searching for inspiration see what you think:

The illustrator is Erin Petson, her artwork has featured in many well known places and things such as more recently Vogue Nippon and Japanese Dazed & Confused. I love the colour palette she uses along with the thick texture of the paint, however counter balanced with the delicate skill of drawing.

P.S i love how crazy are the elephants and zebras in the picture i think it really makes the picture, not just like an ordinary fashion illustration its something that has quirkiness to it or makes you look twice.

The Paris couture shows were out in storm a couple of days ago. And to keep with my love of dusky and nude colours i found myself in love with the latest Chanel couture look, surprise surprise! Last spring Chanel couture i loved how Karl Lagerfeld transfered plain white into something texturally beautiful, with the whole of the looks inspired by folded paper he said "he'd cleared everything away and started with a clean sheet of paper.".

The whole time i was looking at the spring 10 and kept thinking to myself 'hmm is this better than last year?'

It seems more playful and more risk taking, and totally relates to the latest trends of cotton candy colours for spring, however gives the element of romanticism and space age. (not that i tend to follow trends but i do really like this one). It had alot of elements to it, with the metallic and the candy colours, jewel encrusted jackets, ruffles and raras, flower ponchos and original structured shapes, as much as i loved the textured flower, ruffle dresses i do really like the revamp of the classic Chanel skirt suit.

But then again, just looking at last years, can you really beat those exquisite paper-flower tiara constructions and reworked beautiful, graphical, textured silhouettes? A collection to truly treasure.

Using editing from http://www.rollip.com/, this is an amazing website that lets you create your photos to have a polaroid look. They have more than ever choices now, however i do think i like how the website was before as i think with fewer choices it had better quality.

With my obsession with coats at the moment i decided to raid my moms wardrobe, and i found this cute tan sheepskin coat. i like the tan colour with the grey/blue jeans and think it compliments nicely.

I'm wearing: vintage coat, primark long bag with bow and vintage brooch added, my friends H&M jeans, accessorize turquoise ring and sandals from red.

i mentioned in an earlier post about my Tim Walker 'Pictures' book that i got for Christmas. I've just been looking through it today for inspiration and a lot of the landscape pictures appealed to me, where he's position objects that would not typically be in that environment which gives them a real contrast. i also love some of the more simple and less known pictures such as the flowers on the coat hangers and the floating car on a lake. i think mainly why i like his photographs is the beautiful colours and lights, and just the pure unusualness that gets you thinking about the photo. i went a bit crazy taking photos and had to just narrow it down as i took photos of nearly every page!

Phillip Lim's latest collection was one of my favourites of the spring/summer collections, however it came to my attention whilst i was on my regular surf of http://www.style.com/ i hadn't see his latest resort collection. Obviously its quite simple as resort collections are, but i love the neutral colours and high waists. And how he uses the brown belts and lets the top rim of the skirts sticks out. Also i find my self strangely drawn to the suits with shorts, here are my favourites check it out:

This collection has so many elements to it, from the weaving shapes on dresses, crinkle skirts, black embellishment/studs to the beautiful fabric used on the shorts and shirt dress. And just look at those amazing peep toe booties, i want want want.

Today i went to get my hair cut. Not that you can tell, it was just a trim really. I want to get it cut shorter for a more quirky look, as i always clip it up anyways, but i like my curly hair and get scared about cutting my little ringlets off! Anyways here is what i wore:

Where i get my hair cut is a cute little market town, it has amazing charity shops, and really cool stalls. This one stall had amazing fur coats in this big vintage trunk with different coloured lanterns around it. In a charity shop i found millions of great coats and one beautiful velvet dress but what did i do? i forgot my stupid camera. So you will have to use your imagination. One of these stalls sold magazines, yeah i know kinda weird for a market, but anyways they sell like a couple of months old magazines for £1 that are meant to be like £6! So i bought two of these delightful magazines, however i didn't get time to read them at the hairdressers as it was really too noisy and music was blaring out, but i have taken some pictures of a favourite shoot from each magazine.

This last one is my favourite. i love the ultimate layering of jackets, blouses, scarfs etc and the great range of colours, also the bags really add a new dimension to the overall look. i love granny fashion, its crazy you see old ladies walking down the street and they look incredibly cool. i hope i look like this when I'm older.

Throughout these shoots they are wearing some great coats and i have been quite obsessed with coats lately, in my photo i am wearing a vintage trench. i am also wearing urban outfitters boots and skirt h&m tights, the ones i mentioned in another post, and topshop bag. the main styles i like are princess or a duffle coat though, look to these beautiful people for inspiration:

I recently watched the film 'An Education', and found it really enjoyable. i really liked the story line and found it different to recent films. i also loved looking at the fashion choices and couldn't help but remind me of Audrey Hepburn in 'Breakfast at Tiffanys'. i mean 'An Education' is set in the 1960s and 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' was obviously made then too, so the style is going to be similar. As you can see Jenny wears the same shape dresses, long coats, hats, signature sunglasses. The main thing that reminded me of Audrey was Jenny's hair, the updo, fringe and half up half down style. Totally inspired by Audrey Hepburn.

a trip to the cinema.

Just about to go out with my friend to see St Trinians 2, i think we will be the oldest in the cinema but ahh wells, its always fun. Here is what i am wearing, took it a bit earlier in the light before it got dark, i wish summer would hurry up so we can have long days and short nights! I was temped to wear some knee high socks and pinafore dress, to you know, dress to the theme of the film, however i decided against it because of the cold and i will be sitting in the dark for most of my outing.

Wow, imagine wearing a Giambattista Valli or Chanel to prom!

Prom has been a major discussion recently, in fact it as been so major i am almost sick of hearing about it. A while back i started thinks about different looks i wanted and saving images by designers and celebrities, hoping to find in the next few months an affordable one, or maybe one i could alter. But it seems that some of my friends have already in fact bought their dresses and this gets me little distressed. I actually want quite a simple yet weird dress but i thought i would show some of my 'dream' dresses. They are beautiful and inspiring in every way, that would make you want to dress up as a princess for everyday of your life. However i have also found some dressed by celebrities of how to mix it up a little for a quirky take on the prom dress.

First set: Alice Temperley, simple yet elegant, the first one has a delicate intricacy to the neck line which adds to the overall look and the second one i think the texture makes it interesting. Second Set: Erin Fetherson and Alberta Ferretti are two floral based collections. Erin's 09 spring collection are mainly printed designs of abstract shapes and flowers in hues of lilacs, whites and pinks. However Alberta Ferretti's Spring 10 collection (check it out its amazing) are in fabrics in smokey, flowy layers of embroidered floral, Japanese blossom type flower designs.

Thrid Set: Oscar De La Renta and Erdem designs. Beautifully simple lace detailed body con/fish tale dresses, from 2007. Erdem lace tiered dress in cream, i just love how they have added the blue crop jacket with 3d flower, it really pulls the whole piece together and the colours compliment each other. I have a bit of a neutral theme going on, however i doubt i will get a neutral coloured affordable one that doesn't look like a wedding dress! So i am thinking blues and purples.

I love to see how people wear certain things, and what they bring to an original item. Here we move from classic to contemporary quirkiness. Audrey Hepburn epitomises grace and the two dress pictures are simple shapes yet she wears them in way that makes her stand out. I don't normally look to movie stars for fashion style yet Zooey Deschanel always wear a great and interesting gown. i love the long tulle high waisted skirt Kate Botsworth has worn as i never think skirts are very formal, however this shows a new perspective and i love the colours. Anna Friel wears vintage graceful pieces, that almost transfer you back to their time period. Alexa Chung forever the fashion icon, in what looks like a simple blue prom dress, however with her lose hair, skull necklace and pumps just shows that its not the dress that makes the outfit its the person that shows you how to wear it. Kirsten Dunst's gets inspiration from Paul Poiret for her outfit number 2 and outfit number 1s intricacy is not to much with the lose hair. Finally Agyness Deyn and Mischa Barton who have added jackets (denim and leather) to toughen up their either simple or girly dress.

Yes today my day has been very productive for a Sunday. I have worked on my art for most of the day, and my final piece is almost complete, will post on that later. Also i have been working on a sewing project recently and an inspiration book that accompanies it. Here are some snapshots of the book (sorry for the bad shine on the photos)

The theme of the book was originally Japanese/vintage however it gradually changed to my normal style of florals, simple and delicate shapes, pale hues of pinks,purples and turquoise. And ended up becoming inspired by specific things and people; artists such as John Everett Millais and Arther Hughes (pre raphaelite painters), photographer Tim Walker, and Anohki Fabrics from India.

Today i went shopping bright and early in the morning so i could just breeze around the shops. Here is what i wore. I didn't buy much as I'm trying to save my money, but what i did buy were things on my clothes list (i get bored sometimes and start making lists and outfit lists of things i want). I bought a good pair of thick knitted grey tights from H&M. I also bought some jade/ turquoise nail varnish, which i was very happy about finding as the Chanel version is all sold out and i was looking in every make up section for a colour like it, and luckily i found one right at the end of my search. The nail varnish is by a company called 'Hot Looks' it was very cheap and i have found it to be of a good quality too. Now all i have to is stop biting my nails and learn how to apply nail varnish properly!

i first found out about the jade nail varnish, not from the Chanel runway but in fact one of my favourite quirky fashion stars, Alexa Chung, and here she is in all her glory. i never really wear nail varnish, however when i saw this i had to try it out as its my favourite colour.
